The House Key Veteran Downpayment assistance program combines with the Home Advantage Loan Program. House Key Veterans is a second mortgage loan option for those Veterans that need downpayment assistance.
All Borrowers must be a first-time home buyer or buying in a targeted area. The definition of a first-time home buyer is someone that has not owned a home in the last three years. Borrowers also have to qualify for the Home Advantage Loan Program.
Maximum Annual Income to be eligible for the House Key Veterans Program (as of 1/1/13):
Eligible households may qualify for a maximum loan amount of up to $10,000. All borrowers must attend a homebuyer seminar prior to reserving funds. Cash-back to borrowers is not allowed. Please contact a participating lending institution or e-mail us your questions. Further guidelines may apply.

Washington Housing Association encourages all Veterans to take a close look at this second mortgage option when purchasing your first home. House Key Veterans is a downpayment assistance, second mortgage loan option with a 3.00% interest rate and a 10-year loan term. This program is only available to veterans living in Washington State. The House Key Veterans loan program works in conjunction with the Home Advantage first mortgage loan program.
1. Your first step is to attend a free homebuyer class. Washington Housing Association will educate you on the process of purchasing a home in the state of Washington. No solicitation is allowed in the classroom. Your information is not sold or distributed. At the end of your class you will receive a certificate that will be valid for two years and is a requirement of the House Key Veterans Program.
2. After the homebuyer educational course, a qualified House Key Veterans loan officer will coordinate your pre-approval. All your loan options will be presented at this time. How much you qualify for will be answered. E-mail us if you have any questions regarding our preferred loan officers.
3. At this point you should either have a pre-approval or at least instructions on what you need to do in order to obtain one. The key principles that you learned in the homebuyer seminar now start to pay off! Your real estate professional and loan officer will coordinate the process of locating, financing and closing on your new home.
